2019 Toyota Prius Prime in Dublin OHIf you’re looking at a hybrid vehicle for your next new car, you’ll want to give the 2020 Prius Prime a test drive. Cars with hybrid engines have seen a huge increase in popularity thanks to environmental concerns and the overall ownership cost benefits. The less time you must spend at a gas station, the better. The original Prius shaped the modern hybrid landscape, and the 2020 release is a move to retake the reins as the king of hybrids. Let’s look at the slew of new features on the 2020 Prius Prime.

All New Drive System and Engine Configuration

The engineers at Toyota are always looking to make the Prius as efficient as possible. The 2020 Prime includes an all-new electric vehicle driving mode, which allows the sedan to run solely off the battery for an extra 25 miles. Outside of the new driving mode, the engine includes a two-motor drive system which aids in acceleration during demanding maneuvers, such as entering highways.

Re-Imagined Cabin Space and Tech Features

The 2020 Prius Prime’s cabin takes a step forward despite the addition of extra power from the battery, which would normally reduce cabin space. The Prius Prime now has enough room for a fifth passenger. Previous Prius releases only had room for four passengers. In addition to the extra seating capacity, the 2020 Prius Prime sees the inclusion of two extra USB charging points for extra device charging.

Those who have held out on purchasing a Prius until Toyota added more in-demand entertainment features can finally put their concerns to rest. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been added to the entertainment suite, which also includes satellite radio and smart device integration. You’ll also now be able to access Amazon’s personal assistant, Alexa.

Toyota Safety Sense Included

Excellent safety features are always near the top of everyone’s must-have list. Toyota has also looked to be a leader in safety features and innovation. The development team behind the 2020 Prius Prime delivered again in the safety department. The 2020 Prime includes their mid-range suite of driver assistance features known as Toyota Safety Sense-P (TSS-P). Some of the most popular driver assistance features are included in the TSS-P suite, such as collision detection and braking assistance.

Pedestrian detection is also included in the suite. It’s a dynamic feature that monitors the road and alerts you if pedestrians enter on or around the road. Adaptive cruise control uses radar technology to adjust your cruising speed to the car in front of you. It will maintain a safe distance without any driver adjustment required. Lane departure alert with steering assist monitors lane markings and alerts you if you are in danger of leaving your lane when you don’t intend to.

The 2020 Prius Prime offers a host of new features that are sure to pique your interest. If you’ve ever been on the fence about a hybrid vehicle, there’s no better time than now to test drive a Prius.
