As you search for a capable, sporty crossover SUV that is well-suited for your lifestyle and expectations, the Toyota RAV4 and the RAV4 Hybrid are clear options. In 2025, both of these vehicles are unchanged from their 2024 versions. What are the important differences between the 2025 RAV4 and the RAV4 Hybrid?

Performance

The 2025 Toyota RAV4 is available with one engine for all six of its trim levels. This is a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter gas engine that puts out 203 horsepower. The engine is tied to an eight-speed auto transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard for most trim levels, and all-wheel drive is an option. However, for the Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims, all-wheel drive is standard. The RAV4 Hybrid, on the other hand, pairs two electric motors with this same engine. This 219-horsepower engine is linked to a continuously variable auto transmission. All-wheel drive is standard.

Appearance

Aesthetically, the RAV4 and the RAV4 Hybrid are comparable. These models are styled with a sloping yet proud nose and a tall, flat roof. The sides make a bold statement with squared-off, molded wheel wells and edgy, crisp angles across the side panels. At the front, the short, down-turned grille on both models is mounted above a larger, similarly shaped bumper. The double-elemental LED headlights add character and are placed above deep, impact-making air intakes.

Features

The 2025 RAV4 is well-appointed, and its base trim level comes with a wireless hotspot, the Safety Sense 2.5 driver assist features, an 8-inch touch display screen, wireless smartphone app connections and satellite radio. Higher trims add a dual-zone auto climate control system, two household power outlets, USB charging ports, a keyless ignition, a sunroof, a power liftgate, a leather and heated steering wheel, a JBL sound system, a larger display screen, heated front seats, a digital instrument panel and others. The RAV4 Hybrid is also available with a wireless charging pad, a hands-free liftgate, a digital rear mirror and a few other features.

** Never tow beyond a vehicle's published towing capacities. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories located near the rear bumper may require disabling or removing the kick sensor, and the sensor operation setting in your vehicle should be turned off. Follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual.
